Vintage Jewelry, Collectibles, Mid-Century Modern
Hello and welcome to my gallery! I have always had the desire to "create stuff". In fact my admissions portfolio to Parsons School of Design was mainly comprised of doodles and drawings I had done in the borders / covers of school notebooks and assorted "ephemera" from childhood. After promising the Dean of Admissions that I would "ace" the Life drawing class he insisted I take that summer, I entered the Textile design program and eventually graduated with my BFA.
Since then I have had the good fortune to work in a wide range of artistic endeavors including: stylist, colorist and textile designer, muralist, furniture re-finisher, architectural signage designer, production manager and corporate identity designer for Fortune 500 companies, Architects and Interior Designers.
It wasn't until 2002 that I finally started to do what I had always dreamed of - paint. At first it was for therapy as both of my children were diagnosed with Autism and painting helped me work through a lot of the feelings, frustrations and sheer terror of the time.It has now become pure enjoyment and my work focuses on animals & nature (particularly dogs, my adopted Border Collie Jessie is one of my favorite subjects), musicians and working from blk/white photos from my favorite photographers like Diane Arbus, Ansel Adams, Mapplethorpe and John Cohen. I continue to be inspired by Surrealists like Dali' and artists who exaggerate form and color like the Fauvists, Leroy Neiman and painters like Otto Dix, George Grosz and Egon Schiele.
I have sold my artwork internationally though various online websites and galleries, locally through brick and mortar galleries in Red Bank, NJ and through commission. I now feel that it is time to represent myself and take my love of art, creating, expressing and coloring into my own hands (pun intended) so I have created this website to begin the next phase of my "career?", journey, path.....
Thanks for joining!
